Mitochondria: The Key to Everything

Wellness = Energy, Energy, Energy!!!

Our energy comes from our mitochondria which are tiny energy factories packed into our cells – we have 2000 mitochondria packed into the tiny cells of each heart and brain cell.

How well our cell energy factories (mitochondria) generate ATP (the fuel that powers us) determines our biologic age.

We can’t change our chronological age (number of birthdays) unless we lie (not that
anyone we know would ever do that) 🙂

We can change our biologic age – the age we function. We all know people who are age 50 but look and feel age 80 as well as people age 80 who look and feel age 50. My Dad is a great example of the latter.

A key part of aging is losing many of our precious mitochondria. To make matters worse,
our remaining mitochondria suffer damage leading to an energy deficit. Remember,
 Wellness is energy, energy, energy. To sum it up:

What can we do to support our mitochondria?

Improving the Efficiency of Our Mitochondria

If we are not making energy efficiently, we are instead making fat & destructive free
radicals. Here are some steps that are proven to work:

  1. 635 nm wavelength red coherent laser therapy. The Erchonia professional grade
    cold lasers (do not generate harmful heating) are the most effective available
    anywhere to do this – with the research to back it up. These healing lasers boost

Our Most Dangerous Food

How Linoleic acid (Omega 6) fats WRECK our health– worse than sugar!

Our diets have changed greatly in comparison to our ancestors.

Then: In 1850: We ate 2-3 grams per day of linoleic acid (from seed oils).   Linolenic Acid use to make up 1% – 3% of the energy in the human diet and there was virtually no cancer, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, macular degeneration

Now: We on average eat 30 – 40 grams  of linolenic acid. This makes up 15% – 20% of energy in our diet and we now have exploding rates of cancer, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, macular degeneration from increase of pervasive linoleic acid (LA) – perhaps the greatest health experiment in history!

Linoleic acid (LA) acts as a metabolic poisondamages our mitochondria

  • Primary contributor to nearly all chronic disease
  • Highly susceptible to oxidation including OXLAMS (oxidated LA metabolites)
  • Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio is important

Heart Focused Breathing – Decreases Our Heart Rate, Increases Our Gratitude, and Boosts Our Immune System

We are living in times of heightened anxiety, fear, and stress. Depression and anxiety are at an all-time high with some studies stating depression rates have tripled during this time of viral fear. The holidays can magnify this emotional state for some.

When our body is operating under the “Fight or Flight” or “Run from the Tiger” response that are triggered from fear, it releases hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline that increase our pulse and blood pressure, can speed up our breathing, dial down our digestion, create anxiety and fear, and weaken our immune system. Most of us tend to continually live in this “Fight or Flight” mode that was designed to last only minutes and not hours, weeks, or years.

 Is it healthy way to live in continuous fear? The answer is an emphatic NO! In this condition we are making ourselves sick, weak, and emotionally paralyzed.

Deep breathing is a technique that can create almost immediate relief. It can help turn off that “Fight or Flight” response in our body and turn on our “Calm and Peaceful” response. This can help calm down our heart rate, lower blood pressure, improve digestion, increase oxygen in our lungs and cells, improve our immune system and activate networks of our brain related to your mood.

A great breathing technique is Heart Focused breathing. This is an extremely easy technique that can help decrease our heart rate, increase our gratitude, decrease our fear and boost our immune system.

Here are the steps for Heart Focused breathing:

  1. Place your hands in the center of your chest over your heart area
  2. Take 3 slow, deep breaths in through your nose, imaging that you are breathing through your heart.
  3. Continue breathing in and out of your heart area. Feel the rise and fall of your chest
  4. As you continue breathing, begin to imagine that you are breathing in gratitude and breathing out stress, worry, fear. Continue this for a few moments.
  5. When you are ready, bring to mind the image of something or someone you feel gratitude for.
  6. Move that image into the space of your heart and continue to breathing and feeling warmth in your chest.
  7. Sit for a few moments while holding this image in your heart and breath.
  8. When you are ready slowly come out of the heart focused breathing …but remember you can return to it at any time you might feel you need it.

IMMUNE BOOSTING SOUP RECIPE

  • 1 T extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup leeks, diced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
